This is the trailer for a short film called Las Palmas and is made by Johannes Nyholm, the film has recently picked up the Short Story Award (Startsladden) and Audience Award at the Gothenburg International Film Festival.

The Award is worth 800 000 SEK in cash and the production value, as well as more than a little bit of honour.

The Jury statement reads: “Startsladden 2011 goes to a tragicomic movie in a crazy world that feels terribly familiar. An ingenious hybrid of Sällskapsresan and Easy Rider, which goes straight into our hearts.”

Las Palmas stars a real baby ‘acting’ alongside a group of puppets in a bar in the city. The clever film shows the baby getting as drunk as a tourist in Spain with hilarious consequences.

It is so well done that you can’t help but love it!

Back in 1979 one of the most watched programmes on BBC TV was Tomorrows World, a show that looked into pioneering technology at the time with a view to predicting what we might be using in the future.

While NTT was launching the earliest commercial phone network in Japan in 1979, Britain was getting excited about making a mobile phone out of some bits and bobs found in the British Telecoms engineering stores.

Keith Richards claims he really did snort his Dad’s ashes

In his new autobiography Life, released this week, Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards reveals that he DID snort his fathers ashes, having been non committal on the claims in the past.

Well at least some of the ashes made there way up his nose, as he says in the book;

‘As I took the lid off of the box, a fine spray of his ashes blew out on to the table. I couldn’t just brush him off so I wiped my finger over it and snorted the residue.’

Richards claims that his fathers ashes had been in his home, kept in a black box for about six years ‘because I really couldn’t bring myself to scatter him to the winds, I finally planted a sturdy English oak to spread him around.’

The sixty six year old Rolling Stone adds; ‘Ashes to ashes, father to son. He is now growing oak trees and would love me for it.’

I’ve heard of still life art but this seems to be more of a case of still live art. It would appear that a certain tasty glue solution is painted onto the paper before releasing the live ants who create this amazing image before your very eyes. Seems a little cruel to me, clever but cruel, you decide!

The ash has been collected and can be shipped out to customers anywhere in the world, so if you want to be a piece of history here’s where you will find this little treasure.

The site is claiming to be selling the ash with all profits going to ‘ICESAR’ that is helping with the cleaning up process after the eruption.

I can’t imagine anybody who would really want to purchase I jar of ‘dust’, but then some people just don’t know what to spend their money on next I guess!
