In the past few years there has been a huge rise in the murders of albino people living in Tanzania following the belief that their body parts bring good luck and wealth when used in potions by Witchdoctors.

In Tanzania and other parts of East Africa, thousands of dollars are being made from selling the potions and other items made from the bones, hair, skin, limbs and genitals of the albino’s.

It has been estimated that well over 100 murders have taken place so far this year with 57 reported murders and 6 attempted murders where victims lost limbs in Tanzania and a total of 14 murders in Burundi. It is believed that many of the cases have gone unreported since the start of the killing spree in 2007 with some families killing albino babies at birth to avoid discrimination.

According to reports, the Tanzanian police estimate the price for a complete set of albino body parts, which includes all four limbs, genitals, ears, nose and tongue, can fetch up to £50,000 when sold to a Witchdoctor.

John gets an idea for a painting and then uses Slick Paint to do the outline, this is a type of fabric paint that leaves a raised surface once dry allowing him to feel the areas to paint in.

A veterinary hospital in Exeter, New England, America, has become a bit of a tourist attraction as people come from miles to catch a look at one of their lodgers ‘Ugly Bat Boy’.

He is a cat with a difference, as you will see from the clip below. He has no fur on his body but he has a huge unkempt ruff around his throat and along his stomach. It is not known what breed the feline belongs to but he was taken to the surgery eight years ago along with his sister, who was also without fur, but only survived a few weeks.

People assume that the cat is some sort of robot as he sits so still and staff have had to put notices up to tell people that he is perfectly normal just unattractive.

Ugly Bat boy is said to be very friendly and just like any other cat, loves attention;

This group of goats in Tennessee are known as fainting goats which have an hereditary genetic disorder known as Myotonia Congenita.

The goats are a slightly smaller version of the standard goat which appear to faint whenever they are startled. They suffer with a condition which causes them to stop moving, stiffen and usually fall down on the ground.

It is believed that back in the 1800’s, farmers and shepherds kept the goats with their flocks to help in predator attacks. The theory being that as the goats become startled and fainted, the sheep had a chance to escape as wolves would focus on the goats rather than the fleeing sheep.

Here is a little clip;

Last week saw the amazing story of the a newborn baby boy undergoing surgery to remove a microscopic tumour from his brain.

During the operation on three-day-old Sam Esquibel, doctors found a tiny formed foot, a hand, a thigh and another near formed foot.

It is thought the growth was part of a “foetus in foetu”, where a twin begins to form inside it’s sibling, which although not unheard of is still very rare.

Dr Paul Grabb said,

“It looked like a breech delivery of a baby, coming out of the brain.

To find a perfectly formed structure (like this) is extremely unique, unusual, borderline unheard of.”

Although little Sam is recovering fully at home with his parents he must now get monthly blood checks for signs of regrowth.

The world’s tallest man Bao Xishun, has fulfilled one of his lifetime dreams, after he became a father last week. The 7ft 9in herdsman from Inner Mongolia married Xia Shujuan, 5ft 6in, last July, and who has now presented her husband with a son named Tianyou, born a normal 22in long.

The record-breaking height of 58-year-old Bao, has led to difficulties with his mobility after developing nerve damage to his feet, but says he is still working hard to save money for his son’s future.

Bao quickly became a celebrity after braking the records, and has travelled all over the world and appeared on many television programmes and advertisements.

He is hoping his son will grow to at least six feet and be a basketball player, which is what he had done previously until he got to slow to continue.

The family are set to move to their new home soon, which has been built by a friend, and has been fitted with huge doors, furniture and fittings, so that for the first time ever, Bao won’t have to duck to enter his home.

I first reported on the story of Dede, known as ‘The Tree Root Man’ back in March, which told of his life’s struggle after contacting a rare and unusual disease.

Dede cut his knee as a teenager which is when the disease appears to have begun reaching the stage where he could not walk properly or use his hands.

The Indonesian man has now had 95% of the warts removed and has been released from the hospital so that he can celebrate the Islamic month of fasting with his family.

Dede has so far had nine operations and can now use his hands again, he can write, eat by himself and use his mobile phone.

He will need to return to the hospital after the fasting period which begins on the 1st September where he will undergo more surgery to remove more warts from the palms and backs of his hands.
