A restaurant situated in the fashionable area of London’s Covent Garden is causing quite a stir with a new range of ice cream that they are calling Baby Gaga.
The latest addition to their range of ice cream’s is different from most in that is churned from breast milk and served with a rusk and optional shot of Calpol or Bonjela.
Baby Gaga is on sale at the restaurant Icecreamists for a mere £14.00 a time and the provider of the expressed milk who has described her employment as a ‘recession beater’, believes that if more mother’s were aware of how tasty breast milk is more would consider breast feeding their babies.
Victoria Hiley responded to an advert at the establishment appealing for breast milk and gets £15.00 for every ten ounces of milk that she can provide.
Mrs Hiley’s donation was expressed on site and pasteurised before being churned with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest.
The owner of Icecreamists Matt O’Connor says that fourteen other women have come forward to offer their services and insists that health checks made on the donors were the same used by hospitals to screen blood donors.
“If it’s good enough for our children, it’s good enough for the rest of us,” he said. “Some people will hear about it and go yuck – but actually it’s pure organic, free-range and totally natural.”

This is the trailer for a short film called Las Palmas and is made by Johannes Nyholm, the film has recently picked up the Short Story Award (Startsladden) and Audience Award at the Gothenburg International Film Festival.
The Award is worth 800 000 SEK in cash and the production value, as well as more than a little bit of honour.
The Jury statement reads: “Startsladden 2011 goes to a tragicomic movie in a crazy world that feels terribly familiar. An ingenious hybrid of Sällskapsresan and Easy Rider, which goes straight into our hearts.”
Las Palmas stars a real baby ‘acting’ alongside a group of puppets in a bar in the city. The clever film shows the baby getting as drunk as a tourist in Spain with hilarious consequences.
It is so well done that you can’t help but love it!

The gold mines of Johannesburg which created work for many and wealth for a few, are at the centre of a new problem facing the city that was built over the top of the mines.
The long defunct mines have been accumulating water in the vast underground cavities that were excavated for their gold, the water is reacting with rocks formed about 2.8 million years ago triggering a chemical reaction that produces sulphuric acid, heavy metals, toxins and radiation.
The mines which were dug more than a century ago have now reached their water storage limit and experts and government officials claim that the mines will start leaking a toxic cocktail of chemicals in the coming months.
Terence McCarthy, a professor of geosciences at the University of Witwatersrand, wrote in a report; “The threat of acid water decanting from old mine workings is a real and present danger. It poses a threat to our economy, environment, health and history.”
The problem of acid mine drainage has plagued derelict mines around the world for decades but has so far been restricted to more remote areas.
The water in the Johannesburg mines had been controlled by a major pumping station up until three years ago when the gold rush ended and the pump was turned off.
The water level was then several hundred metres underground but has been rising at an average of fifteen metres a month, with the void expected to be filled completely within three years.
If the problem continues to be ignored leakage from the mines will be easy to deal with at first but become more difficult and expensive to control the longer that action is delayed.
In his report McCarthy suggests that the problem can be resolved by immediately setting up two pump and treatment works along the 25 mile stretch of the gold reef to keep the water to at least 300 metres below the surface.
“The solutions are expensive, though not technically daunting and must be implemented in a matter of months,” his report said.
The government agrees that urgent action is needed but has given little indication it will do anything before the acid water reaches underground facilities in Johannesburg.
A report from a government-appointed team of experts planned for release in early January has yet to see the light of day, prompting the opposition Democratic Alliance to say delays are putting lives at risk.
